This is a trompe l'oeil (illusion) wine cellar mural with surrounding faux finished walls. This mural was created to add a feeling of added space to this residential wine cellar.

This ceiling trompe l'oeil mural was created to add some architectural detail and give the feeling of openness to this home's entry. The vines as well as the arbor are all hand-painted illusion.

This bookcase is a fine example of the magic of trompe l’oeil. All of the books and objects as well as the wooden shelving and background are illusion.

This mural depicts scenery from the client's travel photos along with classic mural imagery.

This monochromatic mural of the Golden Gate Bridge was created down the stairwell of this client's home to reflect his love of San Francisco and it's attractions.

This hand-painted map is on the Lobby ceiling of genetic engineering giant Seminis Seed Corporation's new corporate headquarters building in southern California. They commissioned this painting along with several original canvas paintings.

This painting is depicting an impressionistic scene of a park in Chico, CA from which this upscale coffee house took it's name.

This mural depicts scenery of the Pacific Northwest along with contruction elements of Bechtel International Corp. This is one of three murals created for Bechtel in a new division headquarters building on the executive floors.

Hand-painted wrought iron, vines and faux finished background combine to create this ceiling mural that adds some archtectural interest and warmth to this residential livingroom.

This is a one-of-a-kind French-inspired ceiling design that combines soft faux elements and metallics to create an opulent beroom interior. The colors coordinate with the rich silks used in the bedding and window treatments.

This outdoor kitchen is now flanked with color and texture that is unique to venetian plaster. It coordinates perfectly wtih the tile floor and adds detail and interest to the walls. This type of wall treatment can be done in any color combination and can be finished with texture or it can be glass-smooth.

This guest bathroom has a combination of faux finished treatments. The upper portion is created using metallics over a black basecoat. the lower section is hand-detailed to resemble an exotic stone.

This home is faux-finished throughout all of the main living areas. The columns seen here are also marbleized to give the look of natural stone which adds weight and interest to these spaces.

This mural gives the feeling of an open exit from this home. It adds interest and depth to this space and gives a "view" that otherwise would not be possible on this side of the residence.

Here is a trompel'oeil wine cabinet and niche. All of the details including the white trim piece around the mural are illusion. From the light shining down, to the wine bottles in the cabinet, this is the magic of trompe' loeil.

This photo shows how a mural can grace the walls of a dining room. It was done to create the look of a historic mural complete with an "aging" process over the top after it was finished. When murals are chosen and completed properly they fit the architectural style of the home and have a timeless quality to them which allows the homeowners to enjoy the art for generations to come.

Here is another view of this landscape mural showing how it wraps around the entire dining room.

A bathroom mural depicting a view of Arizona's landscape. Notice how the speakers in the wall are camouflaged into the scene? A mural used this way can help create a feeling of peace and tranquility for the homeowner while they are relaxing in the bath.

Another impressionistic mural in this coffee house's main seating area. It depicts an evening view of the lower Bidwell Park in Chico, California. Murals used in this way add to the relaxing feeling of the space that patrons enjoy coming back to experience often.

This mural was commissioned by Bechtel for an executive floor lobby of one of their new division buildings. It represents the theme of company and one of its projects

Here is another Bechtel mural with many symbolic elements in it. This mural reflects the area in which this division is located along with "historic" representation of the area by way of the "maps". It has a three dimensional quality to it thanks to the magic of trompe l'oeil.

This ceiling was painted with rich color and architectural detailing which adds interest to this dining room and transforms and otherwise simple ceiling into a work of art.

Here is a simple project that adds a bamboo design element to this bathroom. It is painted over the top of faux finished walls in rich metallic paints. Murals and design elements such as this tend to be noticed and appreciated more than a framed picture because they have the element of the unexpected whereas a framed picture is expected and then often overlooked.

These columns were all marbleized with oil paints to give the illusion of solid stone. Painting cast columns or fiberglass columns this way can save the homeowner thousands of dollars over natural stone columns while still giving the look of stone. Also a skilled artist can create looks and types of stone that are either unavailable or more exotic in appearance than any natural stone.

This bathroom has a harlequin diamond pattern all hand-painted with various techniques. At each intersection a furniture tack was applied to give some added detail and interest. Faux finishes done this way can give the homeowner a one-of-a-kind look where a wallpaper may give a similar look but is produced in large quantities and is not custom made. Faux finishes are generally priced comparatively to quality wallpapers with installation.
